This past weekend was moving weekend. The boys went camping with my parents all weekend so we rented a U-Haul and moved everything we needed to the cabin and worked on de-cluttering the house so it can go on the market this week. We worked non-stop all weekend and we were exhausted by Sunday! Shannon and I slept there on Friday and Saturday and it went great. Last night was the first night the boys were there and it was a little rough getting them to go to bed in the same room but they finally fell asleep and did well all night. It is going to be an adjustment living in such small quarters but I think we can tough it out for a year and it will be awesome to see our new house get built right next to us! We are excited for all the changes over the next year. Please pray that our house sells quickly so we can hurry and get the new house started!

Work Work Work!

Wow, setting up all the utilities for our tiny cabin has been a lot of work! Once we had the power in Shannon had to trench a line to the cabin and put electric in all the way to there. I am so glad he can do all of this himself because it would have cost $2000+ to have an electrician do it! He also had to connect the water line back to the cabin and put a pressure reducer in because we have too much water pressure! Which is a good problem to have! Luckily, it is almost done and the cabin is becoming more live-able every day! We are hoping to move in this weekend so that is exciting! Here are a few more pictures of the progress…

Shannon is very tired of trenching =P

Tristan helping put the electric line in! He was a very good helper!

After Shannon got our wires all in they had to come back and put the meter on.

My parents and grandmother also came by to check out the cabin. Logan and Tristan dragged Mimi and Grandaddy up in to the loft! haha! (Do you like Shannon’s photobomb in the background)

AND this big guy finished Kindergarten! We are so excited for him to start first grade in Gunter and we are happy that he will get to grow up in the same district with the same friends. It is such a nice community where everyone knows all the kids (which could be bad for him when he is a teenager ;P)

Today we got power! YAY! With all the rain we have had in the past month the project was delayed a lot but it is done now and it looks great! We planned on having power before the driveway but due to the weather and the delays the driveway got put in first so we were a little worried that they would have to destroy the driveway quite a bit to install the electric line but they did a great job! They went down the side of the driveway and the one area they had to crossover they actually were able to push it through underground instead of tearing our driveway up! I am so relieved! We opted for just one power pole in the front and then for it to be buried the rest of the way so we wouldn’t have unsightly poles and wires on our land. So glad we did this! When I took these pictures they were still there working on it and putting the meter in. We should be able to hook the cabin up this weekend and we are getting air conditioning on Monday! Everything is starting to come together! Here is the breakdown of costs for this project:

Fee for placing new pole, burying the line, and transformer: $5,849.80
Temporary pole for meter/breaker box: $800
Total: $6649.80

Expensive, but necessary. We are so ready to be done paying for all these utilities but we are almost there. And since we paid for all these things now it will be less that we have to finance with our house!

These last few weeks have been crazy crazy crazy… that seems to just be our life lately! haha! We have been able to work on the cabin a lot and it is really coming along! We should be getting power this week as well which is exciting. It has been over a month since we paid the power company almost $6000 and it has been a very long process. It was a very long wait because of all the bad weather we have had which is understandable but they were very hard to get a hold. I did finally get an update from them on Monday that they would be out this week and they let me know we needed to get a temporary pole put up so they could put the meter in. This was the first we heard of this so we had to scramble around and find an electrician to do this on short notice (as in the same day!) so $800 later we have a temporary pole. That was quite a headache for me to deal with on Monday! Hopefully they will actually get the rest done so we can get our AC hooked up next week!

We went out there this weekend and the boys had fun doing a little exploring and playing!

Tonight I was able to hang the extra clothing rod, hang small clothes rods for the loft for the boys, put the pantry organizer up and get the shower curtain up.

In other exciting news, Tristan lost his first tooth! I think he looks adorable =)

And if our life wasn’t crazy enough, Shannon’s truck decided to die on us. He had almost 400k miles on it so it had a good life but we were hoping to not get a new one until later this year. Oh well… He got a used Ford F250 Diesel King Ranch 4 x 4. Hopefully no more getting stuck in the mud! haha!

And I will leave you with a picture of these cuties…
